What is Mach Mani Stone?

Machmani Stone, also called Meen Mukta or Fish Pearl, is a rare and special gem found inside the heads of certain fish. It has deep connections with ancient Hindu scriptures, especially the Ramayana.

As per the legend, this gem is linked to Makardhavaj, the son of Lord Hanuman, who was born from the sweat of Hanuman when it fell into the mouth of a fish. This unique gem is believed to carry divine powers and offers protection, wealth, and good health to those who keep or wear it.

In Hindu mythology, the Garuda Purana talks about the Fish Gem and its special power to bring happiness, protect from evil, and purify the environment. This stone is also linked with Lord Vishnu’s Matsya Avatar, making it sacred for protection and success in life.

        Story of Mach Mani Stone

In the Valmiki Ramayana, there is an episode where Lord Hanuman set Lanka ablaze and flew over the sea to return. During his flight, his body was extremely hot from the fiery adventure, causing him to sweat profusely. A drop of this sweat fell into the sea and landed in the mouth of a fish swimming below.

This single drop made the fish pregnant, and it later gave birth to Lord Hanuman’s son, Makardhwaj. This fish was taken to Patal Lok by the demon Ahiravan, where he began to slice it open. It was from this fish’s womb that Makardhwaj, a monkey-like figure, was born. He held a precious stone in his hand. Ahiravan, curious, asked Makardhwaj how he was born from a fish and what the stone he held was.

Makardhwaj explained that the stone emerged from his mother’s head. Feeling remorse for killing the fish, Ahiravan appointed Makardhwaj as his minister. Later, at Ravana’s request, Ahiravan abducted Lord Ram and his brother Lakshman and took them to Patal Lok.

When Hanuman reached Patal Lok to free Lord Ram and Lakshman, he encountered Makardhwaj and had to battle him. After Makardhwaj was defeated, he introduced himself to Hanuman. Hanuman embraced Makardhwaj, acknowledging him as his son, and then tied him with a rope.

Hanuman then killed Ahiravan and his brother Mahiravan, liberating Lord Ram and Lakshman. He brought Lord Ram to meet Makardhwaj, who blessed Makardhwaj and made him the ruler of Patal Lok.

Ram also told him that the stone he possessed was the rare “Machh Mani,” which is found in the heads of certain rare fish. It is believed that those who possess the Machh Mani live a prosperous life. This gem is also said to be an effective remedy for Rahu-related planetary issues.
